Job description

Teaching Assistant / HLTA – PPA Cover & Class Support

Job Title: Teaching Assistant (TA) / Higher Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA)
Location: Primary School, Launceston
Contract Type: Permanent / Variable
Start Date: 22nd April 2025
Hours: 22.5 hours per week (HLTA – 2.5 hours | TA – 20 hours)
Salary: £24,130 (HLTA) / £23,555 (TA) FTE
Working Weeks: 38 weeks (Term Time Only)

We are looking for an enthusiastic and dedicated TA / HLTA to join our supportive primary school team in Launceston. This role involves providing PPA cover and may include additional class cover due to staff absence.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide high-quality PPA cover across different year groups
  • Support classroom teaching and pupil learning as a TA
  • Step in to cover classes when required
  • Work closely with teachers to create an engaging learning environment

Essential Requirements:

  • GCSE Grade C / NVQ Level 2 or above in English & Maths (or equivalent)
  • HLTA qualification or ability to meet HLTA standards
  • Good standard of practical knowledge, skills, and experience working with pupils in a learning environment
  • Experience of teaching whole classes
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills
  • A passion for working with children and supporting their education

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
