Salary: £120 - £230 per day (depending on experience)

Role Overview:

Teaching Personnel is seeking a skilled and enthusiastic History Teacher to join a well-regarded secondary school in Macclesfield. This full-time position is to cover a long-term absence from September until December. The school is known for its commitment to diversity and academic excellence, providing an inclusive and supportive environment for both staff and students.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Curriculum Delivery: Plan and deliver engaging and comprehensive History lessons that align with the national curriculum. Encourage students to explore historical events critically and understand their relevance to contemporary society.
  • Student Assessment: Regularly assess and track student progress through various methods, including exams, essays, and projects. Provide constructive feedback and support to help students achieve their academic goals.
  • Classroom Management: Establish and maintain a positive and productive classroom environment. Implement effective behavior management strategies to ensure all students are focused and engaged in their learning.
  • Resource Integration: Utilize a variety of teaching resources, including primary sources, digital tools, and interactive activities, to enhance the learning experience and cater to different learning styles.
  • Differentiated Instruction: Tailor lessons to meet the diverse needs of students, offering additional support or challenge as necessary to ensure all students can access and excel in the curriculum.
  • Collaboration: Work closely with colleagues within the History department and across the school to share best practices and contribute to the ongoing development of the curriculum.
  • Parental Communication: Maintain open lines of communication with parents and guardians, providing regular updates on student progress and addressing any concerns promptly.
  • Extracurricular Participation: Contribute to the school’s extracurricular offerings by supporting or leading activities related to History, such as clubs, field trips, or academic competitions.

Ideal Candidate:

  • Qualifications: Possess Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) with a degree in History or a related field.
  • Experience: Demonstrable experience teaching History at the secondary school level, with a strong grasp of the national curriculum and effective assessment techniques.
  • Skills: Strong classroom management skills, excellent communication abilities, and a passion for making History engaging and accessible to all students.
  • Commitment: A dedication to fostering a love of History in students and helping them develop critical thinking skills through the study of past events.
  • Adaptability: Ability to differentiate instruction and respond flexibly to the needs of a diverse student body.
