Are you a passionate and empathetic educator looking to make a real difference in students' lives? We are seeking a dedicated History Teacher to join a team at an Alternative Provision School in Liverpool, working with secondary-aged students in small class settings.

The school provides a nurturing environment for young people who have struggled in mainstream education and may have Educational Health Care Plans (EHCPs) in place. The ideal candidate will have experience in managing challenging behaviour and supporting children with special educational needs (SEN). More importantly, you will have the patience, understanding, and resilience to break down barriers to learning and build meaningful relationships with our students.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver engaging History lessons tailored to students' individual needs in small class sizes.
  • Foster a supportive and inclusive learning environment where all students feel safe and valued.
  • Serve as a positive role model for students, encouraging their academic and personal growth.
  • Work collaboratively with other staff members to address the holistic needs of each student.
  • Implement strategies to support students with SEN and manage challenging behaviour in a positive and effective manner.

Essential Qualities:

  • Empathy and the ability to build strong, trusting relationships with students.
  • A genuine passion for helping young people overcome challenges and reach their potential.
  • Flexibility, adaptability, and a calm approach to handling difficult situations.

Desirable Experience:

  • Previous experience working with children who have struggled in mainstream education.
  • Experience managing challenging behaviour and working with children with SEN.
  • Familiarity with EHCPs and how to tailor teaching to meet students' individual needs.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
