Job description

Position: Higher Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA)
Location: Reading
Hours: Part-time (3 days per week)

Are you passionate about making a difference in pupils’ lives? Do you thrive in a supportive educational environment? Teaching Personnel is seeking a dedicated Higher Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA) to join a vibrant school in the Reading area.

Key Responsibilities:

As a HLTA, you will:

  • Attend to pupils’ personal needs and implement related personal programmes, including social, health, hygiene, first aid, and welfare matters.
  • Supervise and support pupils, ensuring their safety and access to learning opportunities.
  • Provide PPA cover for class teachers as required.
  • Use strategies, in liaison with the class teacher, to support pupils in achieving their learning goals.
  • Deliver engaging literacy and numeracy programmes.
  • Establish positive relationships with pupils, acting as a role model and addressing individual needs appropriately.
  • Promote inclusion, acceptance, and equality for all pupils.
  • Encourage pupils to interact with their peers and engage in classroom activities.
  • Support pupils in developing independence in line with their abilities.
  • Assist in preparing classrooms for lessons, tidying afterward, and creating vibrant displays of pupils' work.
  • Monitor and report pupils’ progress, achievements, and any concerns to the teacher.

About You:

We are looking for someone who:

  • Has a genuine passion for working with children and helping them reach their potential.
  • Demonstrates a proactive, adaptable, and caring approach to supporting pupils.
  • Possesses excellent communication and organisational skills.
  • Holds relevant qualifications or experience as a HLTA (or similar role).
  • Can work collaboratively within a team and independently when required.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
