Higher Level Teaching Assistant – SEN
Location: Effingham, Surrey
Actual salary: £27,713 - £30,250 dependant on qualifications Plus £2000 Welcome bonus For HLTA with SEN Experience*
Hourly rate: £15.51 - £16.93 per hour
Hours: 40 hours per week - Term Time only - Start time 8.15am - Finish time Monday/Tuesday/Wednesday 4.45pm. Thursday 5pm and Friday 4pm
Contract: Fixed term contract for 1 year from Jan 2025
Teaching personnel have an excellent opportunity to work with an outstanding school based in Surrey. The successful candidate will be supporting the teacher within the class. The students who have Autism are aged between 11 – 16, they have associated behavioural and communication difficulties. Some pupils may have multiple learning difficulties.
The school are looking for an experienced and passionate HLTA to join their dedicated team.
Key Duties:
- Take responsibility for safeguarding and promoting the welfare of pupils according to the school’s policies, including safeguarding and PREVENT.
- Provide meaningful feedback on pupil behaviour, relationships and attitudes.
- Monitor pupils conduct and behaviour throughout the learning process and intervene to resolve highly complex, difficult or very challenging issues and to keep records of incidents, health, behaviour etc. as necessary.
- To provide high quality, challenging and differentiated educational activities and experiences through teaching a broad and balanced curriculum aiming at pupils achieving their full potential in all areas of learning.
- Develop and implement individual plans for pupils (such as the educational elements in an EHCP), including attendance at, and contribution to, reviews if requested.
Qualifications
- GCSE Maths and English qualification minimum Grade 4 or equivalent is essential.
- The Higher Level Teaching Assistant Diploma or equivalent Level 4 qualification or demonstrate equivalent skill level.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
