Job description

This school is looking for an outstanding leader to manage their Maths department. The department has seen significant progress in recent years, and the school is now looking for a Head of Department to build on this success, sustain improvements, and continue striving for excellence.

The Maths department is highly regarded and benefits from excellent resources, including a dedicated teaching block. The curriculum is underpinned by the ‘Complete Maths’ program, which focuses on visual learning methods, including the use of visualisers and modelling. The innovative ‘exit ticket’ strategy is used to provide students with feedback to aid their progress. The school’s emphasis on a mastery-focused curriculum ensures that students are constantly challenged through deep learning opportunities.

As Head of Maths, you will be responsible for:

  • Leading an experienced team of Maths teachers
  • Embedding and sustaining the positive improvements within the department
  • Developing and delivering a challenging, inclusive, and engaging Maths curriculum
  • Driving further progress and ensuring the highest standards of teaching and learning

About You
To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • A proven track record of success in Maths education and improving outcomes
  • Strong leadership skills and the ability to manage, inspire, and support a team
  • A solid understanding of mastery learning and assessment strategies
  • A passion for creating a challenging and engaging curriculum for all students
  • The ability to drive positive change and embed improvements in the department

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
