Job Description:
Are you a recent graduate with a background in Special Educational Needs (SEN) and Behavioural Support? Do you have a passion for making a difference in the lives of young people who need additional support in their educational journey? Teaching Personnel is seeking a dedicated and empathetic Graduate Teaching Assistant to join our team in Liverpool. This role offers a fantastic opportunity to gain hands-on experience in the educational sector while supporting students with varying needs.
Key Responsibilities:
- 1:1 Support: Provide individual support to students with SEN and behavioural challenges, tailoring your approach to meet their specific needs.
- Classroom Assistance: Work closely with teachers to assist in the planning and delivery of lessons, ensuring that all students are engaged and able to access the curriculum.
- Behavioural Management: Implement and support positive behavioural strategies within the classroom and around the school, fostering a safe and inclusive learning environment.
- Progress Monitoring: Track and report on the progress of students you are supporting, working with SENCOs and other staff to adjust strategies as needed.
- Parental Liaison: Collaborate with parents and guardians to provide updates on student progress and discuss strategies for continued support at home.
- Extracurricular Activities: Assist in the supervision and support of students during extracurricular activities, ensuring their safety and participation.
Requirements:
- Degree in SEN, Behavioural Science, Psychology, Education, or a related field.
- Experience working with children or young adults, particularly those with SEN and behavioural needs.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Empathy, patience, and the ability to remain calm under pressure.
- A commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people.
- Enhanced DBS check and on the update service (or willingness to obtain one).
Desirable:
- Knowledge of specific SEN strategies and behavioural interventions.
- Experience in a classroom setting or within an educational environment.
- Additional qualifications or training in SEN or Behaviour Management.
