Your Role as a Future Teacher

Position: Cover Supervisor at a secondary school in Bridgwater. Responsibilities:

• Step in for short-term teacher absences.
• Oversee the completion of tasks set by the regular teacher.
• Ensure a high-quality learning experience for students.
• No need for active teaching, marking, or lesson planning.

What You’ll Do During the Placement

• Reflect: Keep a daily journal to document your experiences.
• Observe: Watch lessons across various subjects to broaden your teaching knowledge.
• Learn: Develop skills in differentiation, behavior management, and other key teaching areas.
• Collaborate: Work with school staff to support student development through pastoral systems.
• Understand: Get to know school policies and the reasons behind them.
• Master: Deepen your knowledge of your subject area and find ways to apply your degree knowledge in the classroom.
• Support: Assist students with coursework and exam preparation.
