 Graduate Cover Supervisor – Flexible Work in Portsmouth & Southsea

What is a Cover Supervisor?

A Cover Supervisor plays an essential role in secondary schools, supervising lessons when the regular teacher is absent. You will manage the classroom, ensure students stay on task with pre-set work, and maintain a positive learning environment. There’s no lesson planning or marking required, making it a great opportunity for recent graduates to develop classroom management skills and gain valuable experience working with young people.

As a Graduate Cover Supervisor, you will:

  • Supervise classes during teacher absences, ensuring students stay on task with set work
  • Maintain a calm and organised classroom environment

Requirements:

  • Recent university graduate (preferably in Portsmouth, Southsea, or surrounding areas)
  • Experience working with young people is desirable but not essential
  • Strong communication skills and confidence in managing classroom behaviour
  • A proactive, positive attitude and the ability to adapt quickly
  • Flexibility to work when needed, with availability during school hours
  • An enhanced DBS check (or the willingness to apply for one)
