Are you a passionate and fully qualified Geography Teacher looking to inspire and educate the next generation? A secondary school in Portsmouth with their most recent Ofsted rating "Good" is seeking an enthusiastic and dedicated individual to join their team on a full-time basis as soon as possible.

As a Geography Teacher, you will be responsible for delivering engaging and dynamic lessons across Key Stages 3 and 4, with the potential to teach Key Stage 5 depending on experience. You will be expected to inspire students, encourage critical thinking, and cultivate a passion for geographical studies.

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Plan, prepare, and deliver high-quality geography lessons that meet the requirements of the national curriculum.

  • Create a stimulating and inclusive learning environment where all students feel supported and challenged.

  • Assess, record, and report on student's progress in line with school policies.

  • Develop and implement strategies to cater to students with varying abilities and learning styles.

  • Encourage active participation and engagement in lessons through interactive and innovative teaching methods.

  • Support the development of student's geographical skills, including fieldwork and map-reading techniques.

  • Participate in school-wide initiatives, extracurricular activities, and field trips to enrich student's learning experiences.

  • Collaborate with colleagues to share best practices and contribute to curriculum development.

  • Maintain high expectations for behaviour and academic achievement in line with school policies.

  • Communicate effectively with parents, carers, and stakeholders regarding student's progress and well-being.

 

Requirements:

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) and a relevant degree in Geography or a related subject.

  • Experience teaching Geography at Key Stages 3 and 4 (experience at Key Stage 5 is desirable but not essential).

  • A commitment to inclusive education and a passion for supporting students of all abilities.

  • Strong classroom management skills and the ability to create an engaging learning environment.

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

  • Ability to work collaboratively as part of a dedicated teaching team.

  • A proactive and reflective approach to teaching, with a willingness to engage in continuous professional development.
