We are seeking a passionate and dedicated SEMH Teaching Assistant with a specialism in Forest School to join one of our exceptional provisions based in Horsham.

Responsibilities:

  • Assist in the implementation of tailored educational programs, focusing on the individual needs of pupils with social, emotional, and mental health challenges.
  • Collaborate with the teaching staff to create a positive and inclusive learning atmosphere, promoting engagement and progress.
  • Utilize your expertise in Forest School practices to design and deliver outdoor learning sessions that enhance pupils' well-being, confidence, and life skills.
  • Foster a safe and supportive environment where pupils feel comfortable expressing themselves, building trust, and developing positive relationships.
  • Provide one-on-one support, as well as small group interventions, addressing behavioural challenges and emotional needs effectively.
  • Monitor and assess pupil progress, recording observations and contributing to comprehensive reports to aid in personalized education planning.

Requirements:

  • Experience working as a Teaching Assistant, preferably in a setting catering to pupils with social, emotional, and mental health difficulties (SEMH).
  • Specialism or training in Forest School education, with a strong understanding of its principles and practices.
  • A genuine passion for working with young people and a deep empathy for their complex behavioural and emotional needs.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build rapport and establish positive connections with pupils, staff, and parents.
  • Resilience, patience, and a non-judgmental attitude, enabling you to provide consistent support and maintain a calm environment during challenging situations.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
