About the Role

Teaching Personnel is seeking a dedicated and passionate Food Technology Teacher to join a well-regarded secondary school in Stockport, Manchester. This full-time role begins after Easter and is to cover a long-term absence. The school is known for its diverse and inclusive community, strong academic performance, and commitment to student development.

The successful candidate will be responsible for delivering engaging and practical Food Technology lessons across Key Stages 3 and 4. The role requires an individual who can inspire students to develop essential culinary skills, understand food science, and appreciate the importance of nutrition and healthy eating.

Key Responsibilities

  • Plan and deliver high-quality Food Technology lessons that engage and inspire students.

  • Teach a broad curriculum, covering food preparation, cooking techniques, nutrition, food safety, and sustainability.

  • Provide hands-on, practical learning experiences in a well-equipped food technology classroom.

  • Encourage creativity and independence in students’ cooking and presentation skills.

  • Assess student progress through practical work, coursework, and written assessments.

  • Ensure a safe and hygienic learning environment in accordance with health and safety regulations.

  • Differentiate lessons to cater to students of varying abilities and learning styles.

  • Maintain high standards of classroom management and student engagement.

  • Support students in preparing for GCSE coursework and examinations.

  • Contribute to the wider school community, including extracurricular activities and school events related to food and nutrition.

Requirements

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or an equivalent teaching qualification.

  • Experience teaching Food Technology at Key Stages 3 and 4.

  • Strong subject knowledge in food science, nutrition, and practical cooking skills.

  • Ability to create engaging and hands-on lessons that inspire student learning.

  • Excellent classroom management skills and a commitment to student progress.

  • Strong communication and organisational skills.

  • A commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of young people.
