About the Role

Teaching Personnel is seeking a dedicated and passionate Food Technology Teacher to join a well-regarded secondary school in Stockport, Manchester. This full-time role begins after Easter and is to cover a long-term absence. The successful candidate will be responsible for delivering engaging and practical Food Technology lessons across Key Stages 3 and 4. The role requires an individual who can inspire students to develop essential culinary skills, understand food science, and appreciate the importance of nutrition and healthy eating.

Key Responsibilities

• Plan and deliver high-quality Food Technology lessons that engage and inspire students.

• Teach a broad curriculum, covering food preparation, cooking techniques, nutrition, food safety, and sustainability.

• Provide hands-on, practical learning experiences in a well-equipped food technology classroom.

• Encourage creativity and independence in students’ cooking and presentation skills.

• Assess student progress through practical work, coursework, and written assessments.

• Ensure a safe and hygienic learning environment in accordance with health and safety regulations.

• Differentiate lessons to cater to students of varying abilities and learning styles.

• Maintain high standards of classroom management and student engagement.

• Support students in preparing for GCSE coursework and examinations.

• Contribute to the wider school community, including extracurricular activities and school events related to food and nutrition.

Requirements

• Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or an equivalent teaching qualification.

• Experience teaching Food Technology at Key Stages 3 and 4.

• Strong subject knowledge in food science, nutrition, and practical cooking skills.

• Ability to create engaging and hands-on lessons that inspire student learning.

• Excellent classroom management skills and a commitment to student progress.

• Strong communication and organisational skills.

• A commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of young people.
