Job description

Teaching Personnel is pleased to be supporting a highly respected secondary school in the Southampton area in the recruitment of a Food Technology Teacher to cover a period of maternity leave starting after May half term and continuing until the end of the autumn term (December 2025).

About the Role:

This full-time role will involve delivering engaging and high-quality Food Technology lessons across Key Stages 3 and 4. The successful candidate will be supported by an experienced department and wider school leadership, with all necessary resources and schemes of work in place to ensure a smooth transition during the maternity cover.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver practical and theory-based Food Technology lessons in line with the national curriculum.
  • Plan and prepare high-quality, differentiated lessons that inspire a passion for cooking and healthy living.
  • Maintain a safe and organised learning environment, adhering to relevant health and safety standards.
  • Monitor and assess pupil progress, providing clear feedback and ensuring all students achieve their potential.
  • Engage with departmental planning and contribute to enrichment activities, as appropriate.

About You:

We are seeking a confident and enthusiastic teacher with a strong subject knowledge and a passion for delivering engaging Food Technology education.

Essential:

  • A relevant degree and Qualified Teacher Status (QTS).
  • Strong knowledge of food preparation, nutrition, and safety standards in the classroom.
  • Excellent organisational and classroom management skills.
  • A commitment to safeguarding and supporting young people.

Desirable:

  • Experience teaching Food Technology at Key Stages 3 and 4
  • Familiarity with GCSE Food Preparation and Nutrition specifications.
  • Experience supporting pupils with a range of learning needs.
  • Ability to contribute to wider DT provision within the school.
