Job description

Teaching Personnel is seeking a dedicated and compassionate Cover Teaching Assistant to join a vibrant mainstream secondary school in the Dulwich area. This fixed-term role involves providing tailored support to a disabled child, ensuring they can fully access the curriculum and thrive in a mainstream setting.

Role Responsibilities:

  • Provide one-to-one and small-group support to a disabled student, adapting to their individual needs.

  • Assist with personal care and mobility requirements, if necessary.

  • Support classroom learning under the direction of the teacher, ensuring inclusion and engagement.

  • Help with social integration and emotional well-being during school activities.

  • Foster independence and confidence in the student while maintaining a safe, supportive environment.

  • Collaborate with teachers, SENCO, and external professionals to implement support strategies.

Ideal Candidate Will Have:

  • Previous experience as a TALearning Support Assistant (LSA), or in a similar role, ideally with SEND experience.

  • Understanding of disabilities (physical, learning, or sensory) and strategies to support inclusion.

  • Patience, empathy, and a proactive approach to overcoming barriers to learning.

  • Strong communication skills to work with students, staff, and parents.

  • Relevant qualifications (e.g., CACHE Level 2/3, NVQ in Supporting Teaching & Learning) are desirable but not essential.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
