Job Title: EYFS (Early Years Foundation Stage) Teaching Assistant

Reports to: EYFS Lead / Class Teacher
Job Type: Full-time/Part-time
Job Summary:
The EYFS Teaching Assistant plays a vital role in supporting the learning and development of young children in the Early Years Foundation Stage. Working closely with the class teacher, the EYFS TA helps create a nurturing, stimulating, and safe environment where children can explore, learn, and grow. This role involves assisting with daily activities, supporting individual and group learning, and fostering positive relationships with both children and their families.
Key Responsibilities:

Supporting Learning:
- Assist in the delivery of the EYFS curriculum, supporting children in their learning through play, guided activities, and one-on-one interactions.
- Encourage children's social, emotional, physical, and cognitive development by engaging them in a range of activities designed to stimulate their curiosity and imagination.
- Use observations and assessments to support the class teacher in tracking children's progress, identifying any areas where additional support might be needed.

Classroom Management:
- Help set up and maintain an organized, welcoming classroom environment that promotes independence and creativity.
- Support the class teacher in managing behavior positively, using strategies that encourage good manners, cooperation, and respect among children.
- Supervise children during indoor and outdoor activities, ensuring their safety and well-being at all times.

Personal Care:
- Assist children with personal care needs, such as dressing, toileting, and hygiene, ensuring that these routines are carried out with respect for the child’s dignity and privacy.
- Support children in developing self-care skills, helping them to become more independent over time.

Communication and Collaboration:
- Work closely with the class teacher to share insights on children’s development, contributing to planning and preparation for activities.
- Communicate effectively with parents and carers, providing updates on their child’s progress and any concerns.
- Collaborate with other staff members, including other TAs and specialists, to provide consistent support for all children.

Engagement with Children:
- Build strong, trusting relationships with the children, providing comfort and reassurance when needed.
- Encourage children’s language development by engaging them in conversation, storytelling, and singing.
- Foster a love of learning by making activities fun, engaging, and suited to the children’s individual interests and abilities.

Professional Development:
- Participate in professional development opportunities to stay updated on best practices in early years education.
- Reflect on your own practice, seeking feedback and striving for continuous improvement.

Safeguarding:
- Uphold the school’s safeguarding policies, ensuring the protection of all children.
- Report any safeguarding concerns promptly to the designated safeguarding lead.
Qualifications:

Essential:
- Level 2 or 3 Early Years qualification or equivalent.
- Experience working with young children, particularly in an educational setting.
- Understanding of the EYFS framework and child development principles.

Desirable:
- Paediatric First Aid certification.
- Experience working with children with special educational needs (SEN).
Skills and Attributes:
- Warm, caring nature with a genuine interest in child development.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Patience, creativity, and flexibility to adapt to the needs of young children.
- Ability to work as part of a team and build positive relationships with colleagues, parents, and children.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
