Estates Manager – Secondary School in Hampshire

Position: Full-time, Permanent
Salary: Competitive, based on experience
Start Date: September 2025 or as soon as possible

A well-established secondary school in Hampshire is seeking an experienced Estates Manager to oversee the management, maintenance, and development of its school premises. This is a fantastic opportunity for an organised and proactive professional to take a leadership role in ensuring a safe, secure, and well-maintained learning environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and supervise the Estates Team, ensuring effective staffing for all school activities.

  • Oversee maintenance, cleaning, and groundskeeping contracts, ensuring high standards are met.

  • Act as the school’s Health & Safety Officer, ensuring compliance with statutory regulations.

  • Maintain all buildings, systems, and external areas to promote a safe environment.

  • Manage planned and preventative maintenance to minimise disruptions.

  • Oversee fire safety procedures, including regular checks on fire alarms and equipment.

  • Develop the site’s full potential and seek opportunities for additional funding.

  • Liaise with contractors and suppliers to ensure best-value services.

  • Ensure compliance with GDPR as the school’s Data Protection Officer.

The Ideal Candidate Will Have:

  • A recognised premises management qualification or relevant training.

  • Experience in building/site maintenance, facilities management, and supervising staff.

  • A formal Health & Safety qualification (or willingness to obtain one).

  • Strong organisational and problem-solving skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities.

  • Knowledge of statutory compliance and best practices in estates management.

  • Excellent IT skills, including proficiency in Microsoft Office.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
