Job description

Job Title: ESOL Tutor

Location:

East of England, Essex, Basildon

Job Type:

Temporary, expected to work Full-Time hours

Job Duties:

  • Plan and deliver English for Speakers of Other Languages (ESOL) lessons to Unaccompanied Asylum-Seeking Children (UASC)
  • Assess students' language proficiency levels and develop tailored learning plans
  • Provide individual and group tutoring sessions to improve students' English language skills
  • Create engaging and interactive lesson materials to support learning objectives
  • Monitor and track student progress, providing feedback and support as needed
  • Collaborate with colleagues and support staff to ensure a holistic approach to student development

Required Qualifications:

  • Recognised teaching qualification in ESOL or relevant field
  • Experience working with UASC or vulnerable young people
  • Knowledge of safeguarding procedures and best practises

Education:

Minimum of a Bachelor's degree in Education, Linguistics, or related field

Experience:

At least 2 years of experience teaching ESOL to diverse student populations

Knowledge and Skills:

  • Excellent understanding of English language teaching methodologies
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to adapt teaching strategies to meet individual student needs
  • Organisational skills and attention to detail

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Postgraduate qualification in TESOL 
  • Experience working with refugees and asylum seekers

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
