English Teacher – School based in Totnes
Role Details:
- Role Title: English Teacher
- Location: Totnes, South Devon
- Salary: £25,410- £36,300 per annum (dependent on qualifications and experience)
- Contract Type: Full-time (Permanent)
About the School
Our client is an independent special school located in Totnes, first established in 2005. The school provides specialist education for up to 48 students aged 11-19 and was rated Good by Ofsted in November 2022.
The school offers a personalised approach to learning, focusing on small group and individualised teaching, helping students develop both academically and socially. Building strong, trusting relationships between staff and pupils is at the heart of their ethos.
The Ideal Candidate
They are looking for a dedicated and passionate English Teacher who can engage and support students in their learning journey.
Requirements:
- A recognised teaching qualification (QTS/QTLS/PGCE) is preferred.
- Experience of teaching secondary-aged students is beneficial.
- Knowledge of a range of teaching methodologies to deliver an engaging and accessible curriculum.
- Prior experience working in an SEN (Special Educational Needs) setting is essential.
- The ability to work across multiple sites and provide outreach support in South Devon—a full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle are required.
The Role
- Deliver high-quality English lessons, ensuring students develop their knowledge and skills while making good progress.
- Collaborate with the Head Teacher and Leadership Team to provide a well-structured curriculum that supports academic growth and personal development.
- Monitor and assess student progress effectively, implementing targeted interventions to support individual learning needs.
