Job description

We are looking for a dedicated English Teacher to join a dynamic secondary school in Stoke-on-Trent this September. In this role, you will teach English at Key Stage 3 and Key Stage 4, fostering a love of literature and language in your students. You will be responsible for delivering engaging lessons that develop students’ reading, writing, and analytical skills, as well as preparing them for their GCSE exams.

The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of the English curriculum and will be able to create lessons that are both challenging and accessible for all students. You will be expected to use innovative teaching methods, including project-based learning, to engage students and encourage critical thinking. The school offers a well-resourced department and encourages professional development through collaborative planning and regular training sessions.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Teaching English to students at Key Stage 3 and Key Stage 4

  • Developing engaging and inclusive lessons that foster a love of language and literature

  • Preparing students for GCSE exams and assessing their progress

  • Providing regular feedback to students and supporting their academic development

  • Collaborating with colleagues to create cross-curricular activities

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
