About the Role
Teaching Personnel is seeking a passionate and dedicated English Teacher to join a highly regarded secondary school in Stockport, Manchester. This is a full-time role starting after Easter to cover a long-term absence. The school is well known for its diverse and inclusive environment, strong academic standards, and commitment to student development.
The successful candidate will be responsible for delivering high-quality English lessons across Key Stages 3 and 4, inspiring students to develop a love for literature, language, and critical thinking. This role requires a dynamic teacher who can create engaging lessons that challenge and support students of varying abilities.
Key Responsibilities

Plan and deliver engaging and challenging English lessons in line with the national curriculum.

Teach a broad range of topics, including literature, creative writing, language analysis, and grammar.

Inspire students to develop their reading, writing, speaking, and analytical skills.

Differentiate lessons to support students of all abilities, including those with additional needs.

Assess and monitor student progress, providing constructive feedback and setting achievable targets.

Prepare students for GCSE examinations, ensuring they have the necessary skills and knowledge to succeed.

Manage classroom behaviour effectively, fostering a positive and respectful learning environment.

Support students with their coursework and exam preparation, offering guidance and encouragement.

Participate in department meetings, training, and school-wide initiatives to enhance the English curriculum.

Engage with parents and carers to discuss student progress and support their learning journey.
Requirements
-
Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or an equivalent teaching qualification.

Experience teaching English at Key Stages 3 and 4.

Strong subject knowledge with a passion for literature and language.

Ability to create engaging and interactive lessons that inspire student learning.

Excellent classroom management skills and a commitment to student progress.

Strong communication and organisational skills.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
