Teaching Personnel are working closely with a secondary school in Portsmouth who are recruiting a dedicated and enthusiastic English Teacher to join their team full-time from September. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced teacher or an Early Career Teacher (ECT) looking to develop their skills in a supportive and dynamic environment.

As a key member of the English department, you will play an essential role in delivering high-quality teaching and learning to students across Key stages 3 and 4. You will foster a love of English, inspiring students to develop their skills in reading, writing and critical thinking.

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Plan and deliver engaging, differentiated lessons that cater to a range of abilities.
  • Use a variety of teaching strategies to inspire and challenge students, ensuring they make excellent progress.
  • Assess, track, and provide feedback on student progress in line with school policies.
  • Create a positive and inclusive classroom environment, setting high expectations for behaviour and achievement.
  • Contribute to the development of an engaging and creative English curriculum.
  • Work collaboratively with colleagues to enhance teaching practices and share best practices.
  • Support students in their preparation for GCSE examinations, ensuring they achieve their full potential.

 

What We’re Looking For:

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) and experience teaching English at Key Stages 3 and 4.
  • A strong passion for teaching and learning, with a commitment to student success.
  • Outstanding classroom practice with high expectations for behaviour and achievement.
  • The ability to plan and deliver engaging and innovative lessons that motivate students.
  • A reflective practitioner eager to engage with CPD and career development opportunities.
  • A team player willing to contribute to the wider school community and ethos.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
