Job description

We are currently seeking an enthusiastic English Teacher to join a well-established secondary school in Hollinwood, Oldham. The ideal candidate will have a passion for the English language and literature and will be committed to providing an enriching learning experience for students.

As an English Teacher, you will be responsible for teaching a broad range of topics, from modern and classic literature to language skills, helping students to develop a deep understanding of English. You will be expected to plan and deliver dynamic lessons across Key Stage 3 and Key Stage 4, creating a stimulating environment that encourages students to engage with literature, develop their writing skills, and improve their overall literacy.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Plan and deliver engaging English lessons to students across Key Stage 3 and Key Stage 4

  • Encourage students to explore various genres of literature, fostering a love for reading

  • Provide feedback on students' work to support their progress and improvement

  • Organise extracurricular activities to further enhance students’ literacy skills

  • Monitor and track student performance, providing regular updates to parents and senior staff

  • Support students with exam preparation and coursework

  • Ensure that each student’s learning needs are met through differentiated instruction

  • Actively contribute to the school’s wider educational community

Essential Criteria:

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS)

  • A degree in English or a related subject

  • Strong classroom management and communication skills

  • Ability to inspire and engage students in literature and writing

  • Passion for teaching and helping students to achieve their potential

  • Previous experience teaching GCSE English Language and Literature (desirable but not essential)

This role is an excellent opportunity for an experienced English teacher or an NQT looking to grow within a supportive and collaborative team.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
