The Role:
As an English Teacher, you will be responsible for delivering high-quality lessons in English across Key Stage 3 and Key Stage 4. You will inspire students to develop their literacy skills, foster a love of reading and writing, and guide them through their English studies with confidence. In this role, you will have the opportunity to contribute to the development of our English curriculum and take part in a variety of extracurricular activities to further enrich our students' learning experiences.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Plan and deliver engaging, creative, and well-structured English lessons that cater to the needs of all learners.
  • Monitor and assess student progress, providing constructive feedback and support to help students succeed.
  • Foster a passion for reading and writing, encouraging students to explore diverse literary works and engage in meaningful discussions.
  • Collaborate with colleagues within the English department to develop innovative resources and teaching strategies.
  • Promote a positive and inclusive classroom environment where students feel encouraged and confident in their learning.
  • Participate in departmental meetings, professional development activities, and school-wide initiatives.
  • Support students in preparing for exams and assessments, ensuring they achieve their full potential.

Essential Qualifications & Skills:

  • A relevant teaching qualification (QTS or equivalent).
  • A degree in English or a related subject.
  • Passion for teaching and inspiring students in English language and literature.
  • Strong communication, organisational, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to adapt and differentiate lessons to meet the needs of all students.
  • A commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children.

Desirable Skills & Experience:

  • Previous experience of teaching English at Key Stage 3 and 4.
  • Knowledge of current curriculum developments and assessment methods in English.
  • A commitment to creating an engaging and inclusive learning environment.

Requirements

  • Have a fully enhanced DBS on the update service or be willing to apply for one.
  • Provide at least two professional employment references.
