Salary: £120 - £230 per day (dependent on experience)

About the Role:
Teaching Personnel is seeking an enthusiastic and dedicated English Teacher to join a thriving and diverse secondary school in Chorlton-cum-Hardy. This full-time position starts after Easter to cover a long-term absence, offering an exciting opportunity to inspire students in a supportive environment that values creativity, inclusion, and high academic standards.

The successful candidate will teach English across Key Stage 3 and Key Stage 4, fostering a love for language and literature while helping students develop essential reading, writing, and communication skills. You will work within a dynamic and collaborative English Department that strives to engage students with a varied and enriching curriculum.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Plan and deliver engaging, high-quality English lessons that cater to a range of abilities.
  • Teach English Language and Literature at Key Stage 3 and Key Stage 4, following the national curriculum.
  • Use creative and innovative teaching methods to promote student progress and inspire a passion for English.
  • Assess, monitor, and track student progress, providing regular feedback and differentiated support where needed.
  • Support students in developing their analytical and critical thinking skills.
  • Manage classroom behaviour effectively, fostering a positive and focused learning environment.
  • Work closely with colleagues to develop and share resources and best practices.
  • Contribute to the wider life of the school, including extracurricular activities and events related to English.

Requirements:

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent teaching qualification.
  • Experience teaching English at Key Stage 3 and Key Stage 4 (experience at Key Stage 5 is an advantage but not essential).
  • Strong subject knowledge and the ability to deliver inspiring lessons that meet the needs of all learners.
  • Excellent communication skills and a commitment to raising student achievement.
  • Effective classroom management skills and the ability to engage students of varying abilities.
  • A passion for fostering a love of reading, writing, and language.
