  • Maintain a productive and safe learning environment, ensuring classroom rules and behaviour expectations are followed.
  • Deliver engaging, curriculum-linked activities that build students' understanding and confidence in English.
  • Support individual students or small groups needing extra help, fostering a love for reading and writing.
  • Collaborate with teaching staff to ensure continuity of learning and provide feedback on pupil progress and engagement.

You’ll thrive as a Graduate English Cover Supervisor if you:

  • Have a strong passion for English literature and language, with a desire to inspire young learners.

  • Hold a degree in English or a related subject and aspire to develop a career in education.
  • Have previous experience working with young people (e.g., tutoring, mentoring, coaching, or youth work) – this is desirable but not essential.

Working as a Cover Supervisor offers:

  • A chance to build confidence managing a classroom before committing to teacher training.
  • Insights into the secondary school curriculum and teaching methods.
  • Opportunities to develop transferable skills, including leadership, communication, and organization.
