Job description

Teaching Personnel is currently recruiting for a recent English Graduate, to join one of our client secondary schools in Manchester as an English Teaching Assistant. This position will be full-time, due to start in September at the beginning of the academic year. For the successful candidate, there will be the opportunity to progress onto an English Teacher position once you have become fully qualified.

The salary for this position will be between £450 and £500 per week.

Our client school is currently recruiting for an English Graduate to join their English Department as a Teaching Assistant. This is an excellent opportunity to gain experience in the classroom before you become fully qualified. You will be supported by Teaching Personnel, the UK’s biggest Teacher Recruitment Agency and for the right candidate, there will be the opportunity to be placed into a permanent teaching position, once you have become fully qualified. This position is anticipated to be highly rewarding as the school is in a highly disadvantaged area and it has a large proportion of students who require additional SEN support.

As an English Teaching Assistant, you will be responsible for assisting the pupils who are struggling the most academically. The successful candidate will be working with small groups of students or on a one-to-one basis to help target their learning needs. The key responsibilities of this position include:

  • Assisting the pupils who are most struggling academically, aiming to achieve their GCSE in English.
  • You will be working alongside small groups of students across different ages ranges.
  • You will monitor the behaviour and progress of the pupils, being able to give feedback to the teaching staff.
  • You will assist the teacher in their delivery and preparation of lessons and accompany them on any external visits.
  • You must ensure that you are fully aware of safeguarding procedures and that you can deal with any situations which may arise.

For this position, it is essential that you are willing to apply for a fully enhanced DBS check, you must also be able to provide at least two employment-based references. You must be aware of safeguarding procedures; training will be provided throughout the application process.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
