Job Opportunity: English Graduate Teaching Assistant

Teaching Personnel is seeking a passionate and motivated English Graduate Teaching Assistant to join an Ofsted-rated good secondary school in Bramhall, Stockport. This full-time position begins ASAP and continues until the end of the academic year, with the potential to become a permanent role based on performance. The pay for this role ranges from £419.25 to £500 per week.

Role Overview:

As an English Graduate Teaching Assistant, you will support the English department in delivering high-quality education to students. Your expertise in English will help enhance students' learning experiences, ensuring they achieve their academic goals. You will work closely with teachers, students, and other support staff to create a positive and engaging learning environment.

Key Responsibilities:

Classroom Support:

  • Assist English teachers in delivering engaging and effective lessons, providing individual and group support to students.
  • Help prepare and organize teaching materials and resources, ensuring they are accessible and tailored to students' needs.
  • Support students in understanding and completing their English work, offering guidance and encouragement as needed.

Student Support:

  • Provide targeted support to students who require additional help with their English studies, both academically and emotionally.
  • Implement intervention strategies to help students improve their reading, writing, and comprehension skills.
  • Conduct small group sessions to reinforce English concepts and address specific educational needs.

Assessment and Feedback:

  • Monitor and record students' progress in English, providing regular feedback to teachers and other relevant staff.
  • Assist in assessing students' work, offering constructive feedback to help them improve their skills.
  • Support the preparation of reports and documentation related to students' progress and development in English.

Behavior and Emotional Support:

  • Assist in managing classroom behavior, promoting a positive and respectful learning environment.
  • Implement behavior management strategies to support students in developing self-discipline and positive attitudes towards learning.
  • Provide emotional support to students, helping them develop coping strategies and resilience.

Collaboration and Communication:

  • Work closely with English teachers, SENCO, and other professionals to ensure a cohesive approach to supporting students.
  • Communicate effectively with parents and guardians, providing updates on students' progress and well-being.
  • Participate in staff meetings, training sessions, and professional development opportunities to stay informed about best practices in education support.

Requirements:

  • A degree in English or a related field.
  • Experience working with secondary school students is highly desirable.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build positive relationships with students, staff, and parents.
  • Patience, empathy, and a supportive approach to working with young people.
  • Good organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple tasks effectively.
  • Flexibility and adaptability to respond to the varying needs of the students and the school.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
