Location: Braintree, Essex
Start Date: September 2025 (or sooner if available)
Contract Type: Full-time, Permanent
Salary: MPS/UPS + TLR (dependent on experience)
Our client, a dynamic and forward-thinking secondary academy based in Braintree, Essex, is seeking to appoint a dedicated and experienced English Curriculum Lead to drive excellence in teaching and learning across the department.
This is an exciting leadership opportunity for an ambitious English teacher with a proven track record of raising attainment and leading curriculum innovation. You will play a key role in shaping the direction of the English department, supporting both staff and students in achieving outstanding outcomes.
Key Responsibilities:

Lead the design, implementation, and evaluation of a high-quality English curriculum across Key Stages 3 and 4
-
Support, mentor, and develop members of the English team to ensure consistently excellent teaching and learning
-
Monitor student progress and implement strategies for raising achievement and closing attainment gaps

Contribute to whole-school literacy initiatives and ensure curriculum alignment with national expectations

Work closely with senior leadership to drive strategic improvement and maintain a culture of high standards
The Ideal Candidate Will Have:
-
QTS and a degree in English or a related subject
-
Proven experience of leading curriculum development or contributing to department leadership

A strong understanding of current educational practice, assessment frameworks, and effective pedagogy

Excellent communication and organisational skills, with the ability to motivate and inspire both staff and students

A commitment to professional development and a passion for raising educational outcomes
