Job Title: GCSE English and Maths Tutor

Location:

East of England, Essex, Basildon

Job Type:

Temporary, expected to work full-time hours

Primary Industry:

Salary:

£20 - £30 per hour

Job Duties:

1. Provide high-quality tutoring in GCSE English and Maths subjects

2. Develop tailored lesson plans and learning strategies to meet individual student needs

3. Monitor student progress and provide feedback to encourage improvement

4. Maintain accurate records of student attendance and performance

5. Collaborate with parents, teachers, and other stakeholders to support student development

Required Qualifications:

- A relevant degree in English, Maths, Education or related field

- Teaching qualification (PGCE, QTS) is desirable

- Enhanced DBS check (or willingness to obtain one)

Education:

Minimum of a bachelor's degree in a relevant field

Experience:

- Previous tutoring or teaching experience in GCSE English and Maths

- Experience working with students of diverse backgrounds and abilities

Knowledge and Skills:

- Strong understanding of the GCSE curriculum and assessment requirements

- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills

- Ability to motivate and engage students in their learning

- Organisational skills to plan and deliver effective tutoring sessions

Preferred Qualifications:

- Additional teaching qualifications or certifications

- Experience in using a variety of teaching methods and resources

Working Conditions:

- Full-time hours with flexibility required based on student availability

- Tutoring sessions may take place in-person or online

- Ability to travel to student locations within Basildon and surrounding areas

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
