Are you an inspiring educator with a passion for Computer Science? A secondary school in Portsmouth is seeking a Curriculum Leader of Computing to lead the development and implementation of an engaging and forward-thinking Computer Science curriculum across Key Stages 3 and 4. This is an exciting opportunity for a motivated individual to shape the future of computing education within the school.

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead the planning, delivery, and continuous development of the Computer Science curriculum to ensure high-quality teaching and learning.

  • Stay informed about advancements in Computer Science education and integrate innovative teaching methods and technologies into the curriculum.

  • Monitor student progress and ensure effective assessment strategies to drive improvement and academic success.

  • Support and guide teaching staff in delivering engaging and challenging computing lessons.

  • Foster a culture of high expectations and enthusiasm for the subject, inspiring students to develop a passion for Computer Science.

  • Ensure the Computing curriculum aligns with national standards, examination requirements, and industry trends.

  • Collaborate with school leadership to develop enrichment opportunities, including coding clubs, competitions, and partnerships with external organisations.

  • Oversee the department’s resources, including hardware and software, ensuring they meet the needs of the curriculum.

  • Contribute to the wider school community, supporting cross-curricular initiatives and the integration of digital literacy skills across subjects.

 

What We Are Looking For:

We are seeking an ambitious and forward-thinking computing specialist who:

  • Has a strong track record of teaching Computer Science at Key Stages 3 and 4, with leadership experience or aspirations to progress.

  • Is knowledgeable and up-to-date with developments in Computer Science, including programming languages, cyber security, and emerging technologies.

  • Has a strategic mindset and the ability to drive improvements within the department.

  • Demonstrates a commitment to student success and has the ability to engage and inspire learners.

  • Works collaboratively with colleagues and promotes a supportive team ethos.

  • Has strong organisational and leadership skills, with the ability to manage resources effectively.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
