Cover Supervisor – Secondary Academy – Reading

Our client, a vibrant and inclusive secondary academy based in Reading, is seeking a confident and motivated Cover Supervisor to join their dedicated team. This is a great opportunity for someone looking to gain valuable experience in the education sector, especially for those considering a future in teaching.
The successful candidate will be responsible for supervising whole classes during the short-term absence of teaching staff, ensuring that students remain on task and engaged with the work set.
Key Responsibilities:

Deliver pre-prepared lesson materials to classes across various subjects

Manage classroom behaviour in line with the school’s policies
-
Provide support to students to ensure they complete work to the best of their ability

Report back on student progress and any issues to teaching staff

Assist with general classroom duties when not covering lessons

Contribute to the smooth running of the school day
The Ideal Candidate Will Have:

Previous experience working with young people in an educational or similar setting (desirable)

Strong classroom management and communication skills
-
A calm, adaptable, and proactive approach
-
Confidence in leading a class independently

A genuine interest in education and student development
-
Minimum of GCSEs (or equivalent) in English and Maths
