Cover Supervisor – Secondary Academy – Reading

Position: Full-Time (Permanent)
Location: Reading
Start Date: ASAP or by agreement
Salary: Negotiable (depending on experience)

Our client, a vibrant and inclusive secondary academy based in Reading, is seeking a confident and motivated Cover Supervisor to join their dedicated team. This is a great opportunity for someone looking to gain valuable experience in the education sector, especially for those considering a future in teaching.

The successful candidate will be responsible for supervising whole classes during the short-term absence of teaching staff, ensuring that students remain on task and engaged with the work set.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver pre-prepared lesson materials to classes across various subjects

  • Manage classroom behaviour in line with the school’s policies

  • Provide support to students to ensure they complete work to the best of their ability

  • Report back on student progress and any issues to teaching staff

  • Assist with general classroom duties when not covering lessons

  • Contribute to the smooth running of the school day

The Ideal Candidate Will Have:

  • Previous experience working with young people in an educational or similar setting (desirable)

  • Strong classroom management and communication skills

  • A calm, adaptable, and proactive approach

  • Confidence in leading a class independently

  • A genuine interest in education and student development

  • Minimum of GCSEs (or equivalent) in English and Maths
