Role Responsibilities:
As a General Cover Supervisor, you will:

  • Supervise and deliver lessons across various subjects in Key Stages 3 and 4, ensuring continuity of learning during teachers' absences by following pre-prepared lesson plans.
  • Engage students across a range of topics, promoting a positive and productive learning environment.
  • Manage classroom behaviour effectively, upholding school policies to ensure a safe and supportive atmosphere.
  • Support individual and group learning, helping students understand tasks and complete assignments as required.
  • Collaborate with teachers and support staff to ensure the smooth running of lessons and support specific needs.
  • Build positive relationships with students, acting as a role model and encouraging transferable skills like critical thinking, time management, and teamwork.

Requirements:

  • A degree or equivalent qualification (any subject area).
  • Experience working with young people, ideally in an educational or mentoring capacity.
  • Strong classroom management skills, with a good understanding of safeguarding protocols.
  • Effective communication and organisational skills, with a proactive approach to supporting students and colleagues.
  • Flexibility, resilience, and a positive attitude towards working in a dynamic school environment.
  • Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of young people.
