Cover Supervisor

Teaching Personnel are working closely with a number of secondary schools in the Gosport area who are seeking confident and motivated Cover Supervisors to support with staff absences. We have opportunities for immediate start, offering flexible working to suit your availability.

As a Cover Supervisor, you play a key role in ensuring continuity of learning by supervising classes during the short-term absence of the regular teacher. You will manage classroom activities, support students with their learning, and maintain a positive and focused environment.

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Supervise lessons across a variety of subjects using work set by the class teacher.

  • Manage the behaviour of students in line with the school’s policies and procedures.

  • Ensure that students are engaged in their learning and stay on task.

  • Respond to questions and assist students where necessary, without delivering new learning content.

  • Provide feedback to teaching staff about the day's events and any issues that arose.

 

Candidate Expectations:

The ideal candidate will:

  • Have experience working with young people (such as in a school, youth work, sports coaching, or tutoring).

  • Be confident managing behaviour and leading a classroom.

  • Be adaptable, resilient, and enthusiastic about working with secondary-age students.

  • Possess strong communication and organisational skills.

  • Be committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people.

  • Hold an up-to-date DBS on the Update Service or be willing to apply for a new one.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
