Job description

KS3 Teacher required for a Pupil Referral Unit (PRU) serving Yeovil, Chard, and the surrounding areas. They cater for students aged 5 to 16 who require alternative educational provision. Their mission is to provide a supportive and inclusive learning environment that addresses the individual needs of students, enabling them to achieve their full potential.

The Role

We are seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic teacher to join the team. The successful candidate will be responsible for delivering high-quality, differentiated lessons that meet the diverse needs of students. This role requires a commitment to inclusive education and the ability to engage students who may have experienced challenges in mainstream educational settings.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Plan and deliver engaging lessons tailored to the individual needs of students.
  • Foster a positive and inclusive classroom environment that promotes student engagement and achievement.
  • Collaborate with teaching assistants, support staff, and external agencies to provide holistic support to students.
  • Monitor and assess student progress, providing regular feedback to students, parents, and carers.
  • Implement effective behavior management strategies in line with school policies.

The Ideal Candidate Will Have:

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) 
  • Experience working with students in a PRU or similar setting is desirable.
  • A strong understanding of strategies to support students with diverse learning needs.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • The ability to work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team.
  • A commitment to continuous professional development.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
