Behaviour Support Workers – Harrogate & Surrounding Areas
Are you passionate about supporting young people with Social, Emotional, and Mental Health (SEMH) needs? Do you want a flexible role that allows you to gain experience in schools around Harrogate? Teaching Personnel is recruiting Behaviour Support Workers to work across primary, secondary, and post-16 settings in Harrogate and surrounding areas.
Many of the pupils you’ll support face SEMH challenges, exclusions, medical issues, or personal circumstances, with many having an Education, Health, and Care Plan (EHCP). Your role will be instrumental in helping them overcome barriers to education.
Role Overview
As a Behaviour Support Worker, you will work closely with teachers, SENCOs, and pastoral teams to support students one-to-one or in small groups.
Key Responsibilities:
- Implement behaviour intervention strategies to support students.
- Help students manage emotions and behaviours to improve engagement.
- Lead sessions on self-esteem, anger management, and resilience.
- Promote a calm and structured learning environment.
- Support reintegration after exclusions or absences.
- Assist in delivering personalised learning plans.

We are looking for resilient, empathetic individuals with a strong desire to support young people. Experience in education, social care, or youth work is beneficial.
Key Requirements:
- Experience with SEMH or challenging behaviour is advantageous.
- A calm, patient, and adaptable approach is essential.
- Ability to build strong relationships with students and staff.
- Own transport is beneficial for accessing more opportunities.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
