Behavioural Support Assistant – PRU School
Are you passionate about making a real difference in the lives of young people? A Pupil Referral Unit (PRU) in Liverpool is looking for a compassionate and committed Behavioural Support Assistant to join their dedicated team. This school provides a safe, inclusive, and nurturing environment for students who have faced challenges in mainstream education. Through tailored support and a trauma-informed approach, they help each student reach their full potential.
Your Role:
As a Behavioural Support Assistant, you’ll be at the heart of student development—supporting those with behavioural and emotional needs. You'll work closely with staff and students to create a positive, stable, and engaging learning atmosphere.
Key Responsibilities:

Implement trauma-informed strategies to support emotional well-being and learning.

Provide individual and group-based support to help students manage their behaviour and emotions.

Build trusting, respectful relationships that foster student growth and resilience.

Collaborate with teaching staff, SENCOs, and support teams to design and deliver tailored support plans.

Apply positive behaviour management techniques to promote self-regulation and progress.
-
Inspire and motivate students to set and achieve personal and academic goals.

Monitor and record student progress, adapting strategies as needed to support ongoing development.

Experience and understanding of trauma-informed practice and behavioural support.

A sincere passion for working with students who have struggled in mainstream settings.

Patience, empathy, and emotional resilience in challenging situations.

Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
-
A positive, proactive approach to teamwork and problem-solving.

Ability to build meaningful relationships with young people and earn their trust.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
