Behaviour Support Assistant – Secondary School (Stockport)

We are seeking a dedicated and resilient Behaviour Support Assistant to work with students displaying challenging behaviour at a secondary school in Stockport. This role offers an opportunity to positively influence the lives of young people, helping them to achieve their full potential.

Role Overview:

As a Behaviour Support Assistant, you will work closely with students who require additional support due to behavioural challenges. The role involves working on a one-to-one basis and with small groups, helping students develop positive coping strategies and improve their behaviour and engagement in school life. You will collaborate with teachers, parents, and support staff to create tailored support plans for each student.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide one-to-one and small group support for students with behavioural challenges.
  • Implement behaviour management strategies to support students’ engagement in lessons.
  • Work closely with the SENCO and pastoral team to create and monitor individual support plans.
  • Support students with emotional regulation and coping strategies.
  • Encourage positive social interactions and communication among students.
  • Monitor student progress and provide feedback to staff and parents where appropriate.
  • Build positive relationships with students to support their emotional and behavioural development.

Requirements:

  • Experience working with young people, ideally in an educational setting.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to remain calm under pressure and manage challenging behaviour effectively.
  • A patient and understanding approach to working with students with additional needs.
  • An understanding of safeguarding and child protection policies.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
