Behaviour Support Assistant
Job description
Are you passionate about supporting children with behavioural needs and helping them thrive in an SEN setting? We are seeking a Behaviour Support Teaching Assistant to join a dedicated specialist school in Stockport. This is a full-time role, working closely with students who require additional behavioural and emotional support to engage positively in their learning.
The Role:
As a Behaviour Support TA, you will play a vital role in creating a safe, structured, and supportive learning environment. You will work alongside teachers and other professionals to implement behaviour strategies, de-escalation techniques, and personalised interventions to support students with complex needs.
Key Responsibilities:
- Support students with behavioural and emotional needs, both in and out of the classroom.
- Implement behaviour management plans and positive reinforcement strategies.
- Assist in developing students’ social and emotional skills, encouraging positive interactions.
- Work closely with teachers, SENCOs, and therapists to ensure a consistent approach to behaviour support.
- Use de-escalation techniques, following Team Teach or similar strategies where applicable.
- Provide a safe and inclusive learning environment for all students.
What We’re Looking For:
- Experience working with children with challenging behaviour (desirable).
- Knowledge of Team Teach or other behaviour management strategies (desirable).
- A calm, patient, and proactive approach to supporting students.
- Strong communication and teamwork skills.
- A commitment to making a positive impact on children’s education and well-being.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
