Teaching Assistant required to work at a school who cater for young people who are not able to attend mainstream school due to exclusion, medical needs or mental health conditions including Anxiety.

Teaching Assistants support students well-being by creating a safe and supportive learning environment, encouraging positive mental health practices, and providing social and emotional learning.

Many students with mental health issues may exhibit challenging behaviors, such as aggression or hyperactivity. You will need to be resilient and adaptable to develop strategies to manage these behaviors effectively.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide direct support to students with mental health needs, both individually and in groups.
  • Assist in the development and implementation of individualised support plans.
  • Work collaboratively with teachers, counsellors, and other staff to identify and address student mental health concerns.
  • Support classroom activities and facilitate a positive learning environment.
  • Maintain accurate and confidential records of student interactions and progress.
  • Participate in professional development opportunities to stay informed about best practices in mental health support.

Qualifications:

  • Previous experience in a similar role or relevant experience working with children or adults with mental health difficulties
  • Knowledge of mental health issues and strategies for support.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively as part of a multidisciplinary team.
  • Patience, empathy, and a genuine passion for supporting young people.
  • Relevant qualifications in education, psychology, social work, or a related field are desirable.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
