A fantastic Secondary Social Emotional Mental Health school (SEMH) in Burnley, is looking for SEMH Teaching Assistants to join their expert team. The school caters for children with mental health needs and/ or other additional special education needs that all have an educational health care plan (EHCP). They are looking for staff that are compassionate, creative and can take on a mentoring approach when providing constant support for the children.

The ideal SEN Teaching Assistant should:

Have experience or a passion for working with children with SEN.

Experience with SEMH.

Be flexible, proactive, and patient.

Be nurturing and caring in your approaches.

Be able to communicate effectively within a team.

Be open to providing personal care.

Have a Background in Education, Care, Psychology or Drama, as these are very transferable.

The role would be a combination of supporting the small classes and an element of 1:1 work, therefore being flexible and proactive is key. Their small class sizes ensure that all learners benefit from a consistent and supportive approach from all staff, including therapists, and are given every opportunity to thrive and develop as individuals.

This school has fantastic opportunities for professional development & continuous support from the senior leadership team and specialist colleagues. Pay can be up to £350 a week, depending on experience and if you can impress during a trial which the school is more than happy to arrange to give you a real taste.

Experience is by no means required, so this is a great opportunity if you’re looking to kick start a career in special education or just develop your existing skills further.

The school’s hours of this role are 8.30am – 3:30pm.
