Job description

Inspire Independence, Support Growth & Change Lives with Teaching Personnel 
Are you passionate about supporting young people with autism to thrive in a specialist further education environment?

We are seeking a patient, proactive, and compassionate Autism Teaching Assistant to join a dedicated team in Yeovil, working with students aged 16–18 who have Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) and associated needs.

 

About the Role
This is a part-time, term-time only role supporting young adults with autism as they transition into adulthood. You will play a vital role in helping students develop their communication, social, academic and life skills, both inside and outside the classroom. Working alongside experienced tutors, therapists and support staff, you'll provide tailored, one-to-one or small group support.

With a strong emphasis on independence, employability and wellbeing, the college equips young people with the tools they need to succeed beyond education. What We’re Looking For
We welcome applications from individuals with experience in education, care, or support roles – or those looking for a rewarding new path. You don’t need to be an autism specialist; what matters most is your attitude and commitment to supporting young people with additional needs.

 

You should be:

  • Compassionate, resilient and enthusiastic

  • Able to build positive relationships with students

  • Supportive of students’ independence and personal development

  • A team player with good communication skills

  • Calm under pressure and adaptable to different needs

 

Key Details:

  • Term-time only

  • Hours: 8.30am to 4.00pm

  • Age range: 16–18 years

  • Focus: Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD)

  • Opportunities for ongoing training and development

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
