Location: Basingstoke Area

pay: £13.75/ hour, paid weekly

Hours: Mon-fri, term time only

We are seeking two dedicated and enthusiastic Teaching Assistants to join the dynamic team at a special educational needs (SEN) school in the Basingstoke area. This school primarily provides autism-based support, focusing on meeting the unique needs of students with autism spectrum conditions and other co-morbid special needs. It offers a supportive, structured environment where students can thrive both academically and personally.

As a Teaching Assistant, you will play a vital role in supporting students' learning, development, and wellbeing. You will work closely with teachers and support staff to create an inclusive environment that promotes positive behaviour, academic progress, and personal growth. The school provides a nurturing atmosphere where students feel safe, valued, and supported.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide 1:1 or small group support to students with a range of SEN needs, primarily autism and related conditions.

  • Assist in delivering tailored lesson plans and activities to help students achieve their individual learning goals.

  • Support students in managing their behaviour and emotions, using autism-informed strategies to meet their needs.

  • Foster positive relationships with students, encouraging their confidence, independence, and social skills.

  • Collaborate with teachers and other support staff to ensure a cohesive and supportive learning environment.

  • Help create a nurturing classroom environment that promotes students' social, emotional, and academic growth.

  • Assist with personal care when required.


Essential Qualifications & Skills:

  • Previous experience working with children with special educational needs, particularly autism (preferred but not essential).

  • A patient, empathetic, and adaptable approach to supporting students.

  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively within a team.

  • A commitment to providing high-quality support and making a positive difference in students' lives.

  • Ability to manage challenging behaviour sensitively and effectively.


Additional Requirements:

  • All candidates must have or be willing to obtain an enhanced child DBS clearance on the Update Service.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
