Autism Support Teaching Assistant
Pay Rate - £83.85 per day.
Hours – 8.30pm -3.30pm.
Start date – February 3rd 2025.
Location - Newport
A secondary school in Newport are looking to recruit a Teaching assistant to work with children with Autism. The school in Duffryn has an integrated ASD base within their school ground. You would be expected to support the teachers work alongside the pupils with ASD. This is a can be a challenging but also very fulfilling role. No one day would be the same which also makes this a very exciting role.
The school is a caring community that provides tries to promote a calm purposeful learning environment for pupils and staff alike. The school is easily accessible from the M4 with good public transport links.
Within this role you would be working with children between the ages of 11-16.
The ideal candidate should
- have previous experience with children with ASD.
- Be able to communicate effectively with pupils and staff.
- Be flexible, patient and proactive.
- Be resilient and adaptable.
- Be able to encourage the pupils learning in a positive manner.
- Appropriately deal with the different behaviours you may encounter.
Requirements
- Enhanced DBS and on the update service (or willing to apply)
- Right to work in the UK.
- Registered with EWC (or willing to apply)
- Able to provide 2 most references.
At Teaching Personnel, you will be assigned to a dedicated consultant who will provide support to you through out your time with us.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
