Autism Specialist Teaching Assistant – (Hindley, WN2)
Teaching Personnel is currently recruiting for an Autism Specialist Teaching Assistant on behalf of a primary school in the Hindley area of WN2. This role is to start after the April half-term and will continue until the end of the academic year (July 2025). The school is open to offering a permanent position to the right candidate if a strong relationship with the pupils is built.
The school is a medium-sized mainstream primary with approximately 400 pupils, including a significant population of children with Social, Emotional, and Mental Health (SEMH) needs and Autism (ASD).
As a Teaching Assistant, you will play a vital role in supporting students’ social and emotional development. While the role can be challenging, it is equally rewarding as you will help manage behaviour positively and foster meaningful progress.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide tailored support to pupils with Autism (ASD) and SEMH needs.
- Implement positive behaviour management strategies.
- Work closely with teaching staff and parents to ensure pupils' individual needs are met.
- Support students' social, emotional, and academic growth in a safe, nurturing environment.
The Ideal Candidate Will:
- Have experience working with children or young people with Autism (ASD), either professionally or personally (e.g., supporting a family member).
- Be resilient, patient, and confident when managing challenging behaviour.
- Demonstrate a nurturing and non-judgmental attitude.
- Be proactive, adaptable, and able to follow instructions.
- Be passionate about working with children and have a strong understanding of safeguarding policies.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
