Overview: Teaching Personnel are seeking a dedicated and passionate Art and Design Technician for an immediate start at a vibrant secondary school in Wallasey. This is an exciting opportunity to support the art department and contribute to students' creative learning experiences. The ideal candidate will assist teachers in preparing materials, maintaining equipment, and ensuring the smooth running of the department.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Prepare and organize materials and equipment for art lessons, including paints, clay, digital tools, and other resources.
  • Support students during practical art and design projects, offering guidance with equipment and techniques.
  • Maintain and monitor art supplies, ensuring stock is replenished as needed.
  • Assist in setting up displays of students' artwork around the school and for exhibitions or events.
  • Ensure that health and safety regulations are followed in the classroom and studio spaces.
  • Provide administrative support to the art department, including photocopying, organizing files, and managing resources.
  • Assist in keeping the art rooms clean, organized, and conducive to creativity.

Requirements:

  • A passion for art and design with a good working knowledge of materials, tools, and techniques used in secondary education.
  • Previous experience in a school or art technician role is desirable, but not essential.
  • Strong organizational skills and the ability to work independently as well as part of a team.
  • A proactive approach with excellent problem-solving skills.
  • Good communication skills and the ability to support both staff and students effectively.
  • Awareness of health and safety regulations in a school environment.
  • An enhanced DBS on the update service or willingness to apply for one through Teaching Personnel.
