Job Title: School Mentor (Challenging Behaviour Experience)
Location: Rugeley
Contract Type: (Full-time & Part-time roles)
Start Date: April 2025
About the Role:
We are seeking a compassionate and resilient School Mentor with experience in managing and supporting students with challenging behaviour. This role is an opportunity to make a real impact by providing tailored support, fostering positive relationships, and helping students overcome barriers to learning.
Key Responsibilities:

Provide one-to-one and small group mentoring for students displaying challenging behaviour.

Develop and implement individual behaviour support plans in collaboration with teaching staff.

Foster a positive and inclusive learning environment where students feel safe, valued, and respected.

Act as a positive role model, encouraging social and emotional development.

Support classroom management strategies and de-escalate conflicts effectively.

Liaise with parents, carers, and external agencies to ensure a holistic approach to student well-being.

Keep accurate records of student progress and contribute to behaviour support strategies.
Requirements:

Experience working with children or young people with challenging behaviour, SEMH (Social, Emotional, and Mental Health needs), or SEN (Special Educational Needs).

A strong understanding of behaviour management techniques and de-escalation strategies.

The ability to build trusting relationships and adapt to the needs of different students.

Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
-
A relevant qualification in Education, Psychology, Youth Work, or Counselling is desirable but not essential.

DBS clearance (or willingness to obtain one).

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
