ALN Classroom Assistant – Penarth
Minimum of £83.85 per day
No weekend work!
Full Time role: Monday to Friday (32.5 hours weekly)
We are looking for staff to join the team working at a special school we work closely with in Penarth! We are looking for ALN Classroom Assistants that are available full time to work with students with a range of additional needs.
We require people that are interested in supporting learners with additional needs and that are confident building relationships with students. The school caters to learners with additional needs from around the Vale of Glamorgan including Autism, Down’s, Physical Disabilities, Sensory Impairments and Speech and Language Needs. We are looking for someone that is confident managing behaviour and unfazed by challenging behaviour.
As a Classroom Assistant you will:
- Greet the learners when they arrive in class
- Help set up the learning environment by creating and distributing classroom materials and completing general classroom duties i.e., tidying
- Ensure learners are on task during the activities set out by the teacher.
- Monitoring the learners throughout the school day ensure the classroom and wider school is safe i.e., monitoring the learners at breaktime
- Helping support the delivery of lessons by managing learners behaviour.
- Supporting personal care and feeding if and where necessary
We are looking for a ALN Classroom Assistant that is flexible to work with learners from the nursery phase up to the further education phase and that is confident supporting learners with a range of additional needs including Behavioural and SEMH. You will mainly be based in the primary phase but may be expected to cover in other classes where necessary. Due to the nature of the students needs, flexibility is essential at this school.
Through Teaching Personnel you will have access to our Educator app which allows you to select the days you are available. You will also have access to free and highly subsidised CPD courses, and the school will offer you mentoring support and guidance.
During the vetting process we will ask you to apply for:
Enhanced DBS (Child and Adult DBS)
Education Workforce Council (EWC) registration

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
