Teaching Personnel is currently recruiting candidates seeking flexible, day-to-day cover work in secondary schools in Portsmouth. This is an ideal opportunity for individuals who need flexibility to balance part-time work, studies, childcare, or other commitments, while gaining valuable experience in a variety of school settings.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Cover pre-planned lessons in the absence of the regular classroom teacher, ensuring a calm and productive learning environment.
  • Manage classroom behaviour and maintain control, ensuring students remain on task with their work.
  • Follow school policies and procedures, including safeguarding and behaviour management, to ensure the safety and wellbeing of all students.
  • Assist students as needed, answering questions and supporting their engagement with lesson materials.
  • Work across different year groups and subjects, adapting to various classrooms and teaching styles.

 

Expectations:

  • Strong communication and organisational skills, with the ability to adapt quickly to different school environments.
  • Previous experience working in an educational setting is beneficial but not essential.
  • A passion for education and a positive, proactive attitude towards supporting students.
  • Flexibility to work at short notice, with availability during school hours.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
