Job description

Experienced Cover Supervisors Needed – Portsmouth Area!

 

Teaching Personnel is proud to work closely with many secondary schools across the Portsmouth area, providing support for their staffing needs. We are currently seeking experienced and reliable Cover Supervisors to step into classrooms and ensure high standards of education are maintained in the absence of the regular teacher.

If you have a background in education, coaching, or working with young people and are confident in leading a classroom, this role is an excellent opportunity to further develop your skills and make a difference in student's learning journeys.

As a Cover Supervisor, you will supervise pre-planned lessons, manage classroom behaviour, and ensure students stay engaged with their work. While specific subject specialisms are preferred, they are not essential.

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Classroom Management: Supervise and support students in completing pre-set work, ensuring a calm and productive learning environment.
  • Deliver Pre-Planned Lessons: Follow the lesson plans provided by the school to maintain continuity in learning.
  • Behaviour Monitoring: Manage behaviour effectively in line with the school’s policies, encouraging positive interactions and focus.
  • Support Learning: Respond to any student queries and provide general assistance as needed during lessons.
  • Adaptability: Work across a variety of subjects and year groups depending on the school’s daily needs.
  • Professional Conduct: Represent Teaching Personnel and maintain high standards of professionalism in every school.

 

What We’re Looking For:

The ideal candidate will:

  • Have experience working in a school or educational setting (Cover Supervisor experience preferred).
  • Be confident in leading a classroom and managing student behaviour.
  • Possess strong communication and organisational skills.
  • Be adaptable and willing to work across a range of subjects and year groups.
  • Hold an enhanced child only DBS check on the Update Service or be willing to apply for one.
  • Have a subject specialism (preferred but not essential).
  • Be reliable, punctual, and committed to supporting student's education.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
