Academic Mentor – KS2 (Year 5/6)
Location: East side of Chichester
Start Date: ASAP
Full-Time Position
An exciting opportunity has arisen for an Academic Mentor to join a school on the east side of Chichester. The role is full-time and offers a fantastic chance to work closely with Key Stage 2 pupils (Year 5/6) to support their academic development, particularly in preparation for their SATs, and to help guide them through the transition to secondary school.
Role Overview:
The main focus of the role will be to assist students in preparing for their SATs by leading small-group sessions that help strengthen their skills and boost their confidence. After the SATs, the mentor will continue to support pupils in small groups, assisting them in consolidating their learning and preparing for the challenges of secondary school.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide tailored support to Year 5/6 pupils to help them prepare for SATs.
- Lead small group sessions designed to reinforce learning, develop academic skills, and build confidence.
- Support pupils in their transition to Year 7, ensuring they are ready for the challenges of secondary school.
- Work closely with class teachers to monitor pupils' progress and adjust support where needed.
- Create a positive, motivating, and engaging learning environment for students.
Ideal Candidate:
- Holds a degree in a relevant subject (such as a curriculum-based or Psychology degree).
- Has experience working with young people, ideally in an educational setting.
- Possesses excellent communication skills and the ability to engage and inspire pupils.
- Is passionate about education and committed to helping children reach their full potential.
- Is an aspiring primary school teacher or someone looking to gain valuable experience before pursuing a career in teaching.
Qualifications:
- QTS is not essential, but the candidate should hold a good level of academic qualification.
- Previous experience working with young learners is preferred.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
